Newly Appointed DCM welcomed
On Friday August 20, NEGAAS hosted a reception in honor of Newly appointed Deputy Chief Of Mission of Federal Republic of Germany to Nepal Mr. Henning Hansen,. Welcoming the guest of honor Mr. Hansen and Office bearers, executive members and lifer members of NEGAAS, President Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba reminded NEGAAS tradition of hosting reception and farewell program for incoming and outgoing diplomats of the German Embassy operating in Kathmandu.  On the occasion all the office bearers, executive members and life members of NEGAAS introduced themselves to the Guest of Honor Mr. Hansen. Mr. Hansen on his turn also told about his diplomatic career he underwent in Bangladesh,China and Australia before coming to Nepal as DCM. While working in Bangladesh he had visited Nepal as tourist, he added.  Founder President of NEGAAS Prof. Dr. Chandra B. Joshi reminded Mr. Hansen of the close relations subsisting between NEGAAS and Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany during the tenure of Mr. Hansen's predecessor Mr. Norbert Meyer and hoped such types of conducive environment between the two would continue during Mr. Hansen's Tenure in Nepal. On the occasion Secretary of NEGAAS,  Mr. Surendra Dhakal informed to Mr. Hansen the historical activities undertaken by NEGAAS to mark 50th anniversary of Nepal German Diplomatic Relation and Einstein Centenary Celebration. He also made the Guest of Honor aware of forth coming activities of NEGAAS such as Disaster Management Seminar, German Education Fair, Publication of NEGAAS Journal and other activities to be taken place in the coming two years. Moreover, NEGAAS Ex Vice President and Life Member, Mr. Rishi Shah informed about the progress made to publish the journal.  Responding to the hospitality extend to him by NEGAAS, Mr. Hansen expressed satisfaction over NEGAAS activities and assured his full-fledged support to NEGAAS from his side. Vice President Dr. Roshana Shrestha extended thanks to the Guest of Honor for accepting NEGAAS invitation and all other for their gracious presence in the program.  Altogether 19 NEGAAS Office bearers, executive members and life members were present in the program which was concluded with Dinner..
 
Background and Objective

Nepal German Academic Association (NEGAAS) is a non-profit organization established in August 1986 by a group of Nepalese scholars having obtained their academic degree, undergone training and conducted research in various universities and institutes of Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). NEGAAS aims at strengthening the relation between Nepal and FRG by developing mutual understanding and cooperation among the academicians of both the countries in social, scientific and technical fields.

NEGAAS Mission: Developing NEGAAS as a forum for Nepalese and German Academicians  

Objectives

NEGAAS attempts:

-           To promote the professional interest of the Nepalese scholars having completed their higher study in Germany.

 

-           To support governments of both the countries in social, scientific and technical fields by providing them necessary and relevant information.

 

-           To extend consultancy services to the projects in social, scientific and technical fields being planned or already implemented in Nepal by the individuals, groups or government, firms, agencies etc. of the FRG.

 

-           To establish and flourish relation between institutions and individuals of the FRG and Nepal through various formal and informal gatherings.

 

-           To make the stay of German students/scholars/researchers in Nepal comfortable and valuable by providing them necessary information and orientation.

 

-           To extend help to the Nepalese professionals working abroad after the completion of their study in FRG, to Nepalese students still studying in FRG and those who intend to carry out  their higher study in Germany.

 

-           To diffuse German language by regularly conducting language classes    

 

-           To facilitate interactive communication among members through www.negaas.org.np
