"Rumi Singh Maharjan is an architect currently living and working in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Her areas of focus as an architect are sustainable architecture and traditional vernacular architecture.
As an architect, she has worked at Michels Architektur Büro, Berlin, Germany, and Sustainable Mountain Architecture, Lalitpur, Nepal, and is currently working at the RP Foundation for Conservation, Bhaktapur, Nepal. Along with professional practice, she is also interested in academics. She has worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Summer School of CEPT Ahmedabad in Kathmandu, Nepal, and also as a teacher’s assistant at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dessau, Germany.
Rumi’s master's thesis was awarded the 3rd place Robert Oxman Prize in 2018. She was also awarded a DAAD Scholarship for Foreign Graduates in the Field of Architecture for her Master’s Degree. She was recently elected as a board member of Goethe Zentrum Kathmandu (GZK). Currently a DAAD Young Ambassador 2021-2023, she loves volunteering at the community level and traveling to gain new inspirations and insights."
